Yugma for screen-sharing

Another link from Sarah at LiB (this one via the lo-fi librarian): Yugma.  I haven't tried it, but it looks to be a solid option if you're considering tools to share the desktop (co-browsing).  The basic service is free and cross platform.  It doesn't offer voice over IP, so you're stuck texting with whoever's on the other end, though they do offer a built-in audioconference option; for that you'd both be paying long distance charges to Minnesota(!).  Might want to check it out if you're in need of such a tool.

Hi, This is Karel Lukas from Yugma. Thanks for mentioning Yugma to your community!!! When you Yugma with others, there are a couple of ways to handle voice communications. First of course, we do offer a free teleconferncing service. Only standard long distance rates apply. Many users are OK with this since LD has become so inexpensive. Second option is to use a VoIP service. Yugma works smoothly with all VoIP services including Skype and Google Talk. Also, we are actively working to publish a Skype Extras and Google Gadgets widget in the very near future. Finally, we are in final testing of a VoIP solution which is ideal for one-to-many elearning type applications. So in short, there are cost effective options for voice communications, and the user has complete freedom of choice. I hope that helps, and I hope you enjoy using Yugma. If any questions or suggestions come to mind, please don't hestitate to let us know at info[at]yugma[dot]com.

Thanks again and best regards!
Karel Lukas
